Ocracoke students to return on Oct. 2

Open houses at new locations on Oct. 1

Slightly less than one month after Hurricane Dorian made landfall in North Carolina and brought devastating damage to Ocracoke Island, Ocracoke School students will be returning to the classroom next week.

Hyde County School District Public Information Officer Julio Morales has reported that following a Tuesday, Oct. 1 series of opens houses for parents and students, classes will begin in new locations on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7:55 a.m. They will remain at those locations until further notice.

Here is the list of open houses on Oct. 1

  • 11 am-12 for Pre-K, K and 1st grades at the Daycare Building
  • 12-1pm for 2nd-5th grades at the 2nd Floor of the Elementary (Park & Enter by Back Rd)
  • 1-2 pm Middle School at NCCAT (North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching)
  • 2-3 pm High School at NCCAT (North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching)
