Hatteras Village debris removel to begin Sept. 23

Crews will begin debris removal in Hatteras Village on Monday, September 23. Homeowners in this area are asked to place all storm-related debris in right-of-way by 6 a.m. Monday morning as one pass will be made through each village. Following the completion of debris removal in Hatteras Village, crews will begin working north to Frisco. Updates will be sent as debris removal progresses on Hatteras Island.

Dare County Public Works crews have been working to remove storm debris inside the gate at Colington Harbor since Monday, September 16. Crews anticipate wrapping up storm debris removal within Colington Harbor later this week. Please remember, the County only has the resources available to make one pass through each neighborhood. A schedule for other areas of unincorporated Dare County will be released as soon as details are finalized.

Storm-related debris should be placed into 4 SEPARATE PILES onto the right-of-way at least 30 feet from fire hydrants.

Vegetative Debris (limbs, leaves, branches, sea grass, etc.) DO NOT BAG!

Construction and Demolition Materials (building materials, concrete, shingles, etc.)

Metal (appliances)

Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics (oil, bleach toilet cleaner, televisions, computers, etc.)

Large items such as cars, boats, trailers, and campers will be not be accepted and must be disposed of by the owner.
