A Colington Harbour home was struck by lightning during the heavy thunderstorm that rolled through the area in mid-afternoon on Aug. 7. Fire vehicles were on the scene at 103 Queen Mary Ct., where, according to local fire personnel, the home suffered some damage directly from the strike, but there was no accompanying fire.

The property is for sale and no one was in the residence at the time of the incident. Nags Head firefighters were called to a property to the 3500 block of S. Virginia Dare Trail at roughly the same time in the afternoon. But according to Interim Fire Chief Shane Hite, there was no visible evidence of a lightning strike not any signs of real damage at that property.
