A fourth passenger suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Ralph Melton, chief of Fire and Emergency Medical Services in Currituck County, as did two people in the other vehicle in the southbound lane.

The car carrying four people who had left the overnight shift at Walmart in Kitty Hawk was heading north. It crossed the center line at 7:23 a.m. in the 6500 block of Caratoke Highway, Melton said.
