Longtime Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) member Doug Brindley of Brindley Beach Vacations and Sales was presented the Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Good Neighbor Award at a recent general membership meeting held at the Avon fire station.

Nominated by fellow REALTOR® Kim Endre of Resort Realty, Brindley was recognized for his dedication to the Dare County Foster Care Program.

The program provides care for children when their own family or legal custodian cannot care for them. The commitment and dedication to becoming a foster parent requires lengthy training following strict guidelines.

As such, Brindley and his wife Joan, “Opened their entire world — hearts, minds, money, and time to become foster parents, giving children a safe and happy home.”

“Doug Brindley has always been generous in the Outer Banks community through the many events and fundraising efforts he has chaired, organized, or sponsored for charitable causes,” says 2019 OBAR President Jean-Paul Peron of The Outer Banks Real Estate Company at eXp Realty-Carova.

In fact, Brindley was recognized as a Good Neighbor back in 2017 for sponsoring (and occasionally participating in) the Outer Banks Womanless Beauty Pageant, which supported multiple charities, including Relay for Life, Get Pinked, the Dare Education Foundation, the Outer Banks S.P.C.A and many others. The pageant raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years.

The Good Neighbor Award program, originally created by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in 2000, was adopted by OBAR in early 2017. Like NAR, OBAR began recognizing Outer Banks REALTORS® in good standing who make extraordinary commitments to improving the quality of life in their communities through volunteer work.

Says Peron, “Doug Brindley clearly exhibits these qualities perfectly and the community is better for it.”

OBAR’s Good Neighbor Award is sponsored by their Platinum Community Partner, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in Kitty Hawk, and was presented by Judy Reynolds and Alex Rainey.

Previous winners include: Barbara Morgan of Harrell and Associates, John Head of Colony Realty Corp, Myra Ladd-Bone of Atlantic Realty, Holly Austin of Hatteras Realty – Avon, David Pergerson of Carolina Designs Realty, Carolyn Bibeau of Elan Real Estate, Tim Cafferty of Outer Banks Blue, Joe & Ann Lamb of Joe Lamb & Associates, Marsha Brown of Surf or Sound Realty – Rodanthe, Brook Sparks of Beach Realty & Construction -KH South, and Kristine Kiousis of Beach Realty, NC.
