Video: Expect lane closings as work continues on new bridge

By on March 4, 2019

Although the new bridge over Oregon Inlet is open to traffic, there is still work to be done before crews can begin demolition of the old Bonner Bridge.

Over the next few months crews will be making the finishing touches transferring utility lines, and conducting a final clean up of the new bridge, which will require occasional lane closures.

NCDOT urges motorists in the area to stay alert, obey posted speed limits, and to watch signs for construction information and lane closures.

Those traveling the new Bridge should expect daytime lane closures of NC 12 Monday through Friday through spring. One lane will remain open during these lane closures; however, motorists should allow extra travel time.
