Volunteers plant seagrass to protect Kitty Hawk duneline

By on January 7, 2019

About 60 volunteers turned out this weekend to plant dune grass in Kitty Hawk. The grass helps to stablize sand that was pumped onto the beach in 2017. The group is organized by Donny King. (Ben Murry)

Thank you, Outer Banks Voice, for showing our efforts! I want to congratulate everyone who has been involved in this effort for the past five years! We will keep it going. To join the effort, please email bbobxfriends@gmail.com. You can also find us on facebook at “Better Beaches OBX.” We have big plans, quite a bit of help and support, and we will be planting Beach Grass all Winter long, as much as the weather permits.

Thank you to Donny and the volunteers for making the beach a nicer place for those of us that visit Kitty Hawk Beach and the Outer Banks. His ongoing efforts to improve the beach are highly commendable. I wish all businesses would chip in to help preserve the beach like Donny’s Ocean Boulevard restaurant has.

Donnie is a high credit to the OBX. He should be honored with an award for his untiring efforts and positive attitude for the beaches of Kitty Hawk. And his restaurant Ocean Blvd. Is an excellent choice for great food and service. Thanks Donnie.
