Kitty Hawk police say they’ve discovered a man suspected of using stolen credit cards at Walmart might have stolen mail from several mailboxes throughout town.

Hector Eugene Jimenez Jr. is charged with purchasing more than $1,400 worth of goods from the store using two stolen credit cards, town police said. One of the cards used was possibly stolen from a Kitty Hawk resident’s mailbox.

When he was arrested, Jimenez was in possession of credit cards in other people’s names, according to police.

Police allege Jimenez stole mail containing credit cards and checks from boxes on Shelby Avenue, Parker Street, Smith Street, The Woods Road and Emeline Lane in Kitty Hawk. He also has tied to similar thefts in Tyner and Lexington, police said.

“Due to the widespread area of this crime we encourage everyone to check to make sure your incoming or outgoing mail from around December 26th to 30th got to you or made it to its final destination,” police said in a Facebook post.

If you find that you are missing cards or checks, call town police at 252-261-3895.
