Audrey Mae Charity of Manteo, Dec. 22

Audrey Mae Charity, daughter of the late Raymond Charity, Sr. and Ada Pearl Charity, was born February 2, 1944, in Manteo, NC. The Lord called her home Saturday, December 22, 2018.

She was a native of Manteo, NC, attended Dare County schools and received a certificate in the medical field from the College of The Albemarle.

Audrey was a devoted member of Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she was part of the Usher Board, Choir, and a leader of the Praise Dance Team. She was also a member of the Manteo Community Choir. Audrey was employed with K-Mart and Peppercorns Restaurant, Kill Devil Hills.

She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and caregiver.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Earlene and Cheryl Charity both of Manteo, two sons, Timothy and Antonio Charity both of Manteo; four brothers, Raymond Charity, deceased (Amecia) of Currituck, Preston Charity (Faye) of Lawton, OK, Wilbur Charity (Carrie) of Currituck, and Major Charity (Stacey) of Columbia, NC; four sisters, Terry Riddick (Howard) of Oxon Hill, MD, Beulah Ashby (Robert) of Manteo, Marcia Etheridge (Donald) of Manteo, and Brenda Newsome, deceased (John, deceased) of Trenton, NJ; ten grandchildren, D’adrian, Tarikia, Bridgette, Jamell, Da’Shae, Sharelle, Timothy, Krystal, Nigeria, and Jahlik; fifteen great-grandchildren; one godson, James Charity; one goddaughter, Jaia Hardy; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

She also leaves behind loving friends who were like sisters for more than 70 years, Aquilla Bryant, Priscilla Hardy, Barbara Pledger, and Mamie Morris; and dear friends, Melissa Gibbs and Matthew Bryant, along with their children and grandchildren.

A funeral was held Friday at Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Marcus Etheridge.
