Percy Comer Midgett of Frisco, Dec. 3

By on December 5, 2018

On December 3, 2018, beloved husband, father and grandfather Percy Comer Midgett of Frisco passed peacefully away at the age of 91. He was surrounded by his loving wife Dorothy, his children James, Michael, Debra, Bruce and his best friend/brother-in-law Jose (Pepe) Fernandez.

He is also survived by his two granddaughters Sydney and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest son Richard (OJ) Midgett and his six siblings.

Percy was born in Hatteras Village on July 18, 1927. As a young boy, he was moved to New York where he eventually met and married his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Fernandez. They went on to have five children, four sons and one daughter which they raised in Hicksville, NY. Percy was heavily involved with all sports his sons participated in. He coached, managed and often was an umpire.

Before marriage, Percy became a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, his career as an engineering supervisor had him work for several different beverage companies. He retired in 1989 from Anheuser-Busch and moved back to the Outer Banks living in Frisco.

He passed his retirement years playing golf at least four times a week at Duck Woods. When he was not golfing, he would tinker down in his garage creating all sorts of useful tools to use around the house. He also grew fig trees and loved fig preserves made by his wife. Of course, living in the Outer Banks he enjoyed fishing.

There are no services planned at this time. The family will have a Celebration of Life gathering at a future date.

Twiford Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at
