Vacation home in Corolla destroyed by overnight fire

A fire early Tuesday, which may have been caused by a lightning strike, destroyed a vacation home in Corolla

Firefighters were called to Coral Lane in the Ocean Hill neighborhood north of Corolla village at 2:37 a.m. Tuesday. The multi-level structure was fully engulfed when they arrived.

Crews had the blaze under control in less than an hour, thanks in part to heavy rain that followed a thunderstorm that passed over the area around the time the fire was reported.


The house was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.
