NCDMV seeking applicants for license plate agency in Currituck

By on November 13, 2018

The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles is once again seeking applicants to operate a license plate agency in Currituck County.

The license plate agency will be the first operating in Currituck County, where NCDMV officials attribute county growth and customer demand for the decision to place an office in the county.

“A contract was awarded to an individual in 2012 to operate an LPA in Currituck Co., however when the process began to secure property, staff and equipment for the office, the contractor apparently lost interest,” said NCDMV communications officer John Brockwell.

The division’s policy is to open applications to operate a new license plate agency at a point following the expiration or end of a contract, or when the need arises for a new or additional agency in a certain county. In North Carolina, NCDMV oversees LPAs, but the agencies are managed by private businesses.

Completed applications must be returned to NCDMV no later than Dec. 7. The applications (Form MVR-93 or Form MVR-93AA) are located on the Connect NCDOT website. Interested applicants may call 919-615-6053 with questions.

License plate agency offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations.

Currently, 125 license plate agencies operate across North Carolina.
