Anglers club meeting to feature discussion on new artificial reef

By on October 24, 2018

The Outer Banks Anglers Club will be holding their next monthly meeting on Monday, October 29, at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk in the Wilbur Room.

The guest speaker is Jordan Byrum of the N.C. Division Marine Fisheries Artificial Reef Projects.

He will be discussing the status of the new artificial reef, AR 165, which is sponsored by the Outer Banks Anglers Club Artificial Reef Committee, as well as any current and future North Carolina reef projects.

The club has been working for several years on having a reef located approximately 8 miles south of Oregon Inlet within state waters, which is close to the beginning of construction.

Anglers who will benefit from the reef are asked to attend to show NCDMF community support for this reef, which should go a long way to assist securing more funds for additional reef projects.
