Bow-hunting under way at Nags Head Woods Preserve

By on October 23, 2018

Hunting season for white-tailed deer is under way at Nags Heads Woods Preserve and runs through Feb. 17.

If you’re visiting the preserve for non-hunting activities like hiking, running, fishing, preserve officials remind you to stay on designated trails. In addition, dogs must be on leash at all times.

Hunting is allowed only with a bow (no firearms), and all hunters are required to attend an orientation session, register, pay a fee and hunt at least 100 yards from trails and structures.

The annual hunt is designed to manage the deer herd and to ensure the herds health.
