No one was injured in a fire Sunday night that damaged a home in lower Currituck County.

The Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Jarvisburg Road at approximately 6:59 p.m., according to a press release.

Upon arrival, crews found a single story residence with heavy smoke coming from the entire roofline, said Deputy Chief Hayden Poulin.

The fire was contained to the attic and roof areas, with smoke and some water damage to the living areas of the home. All units cleared the scene at 11:34 p.m.

“The family was alerted by a monitored alarm system and battery-operated smoke detector,” said Poulin.

The Crawford Township Volunteer Fire Department, Southern Shores Volunteer Fire Department and Currituck County Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
