Derek L. Chisholm of Kill Devil Hills, July 1

Derek L. Chisholm, 58, of Kill Devil Hills, NC passed away the evening of Sunday, July 1, 2018 surrounded by his family.

He was born to Dwight and Diane Chisholm and raised in Saginaw, MI, where he graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1977. He attended Michigan State University and was a member of the rodeo, played for the Spartan football team, and graduated with his engineering degree in 1981.

Derek was a successful businessman and entrepreneur who enjoyed fishing, football, and family. He was a devoted father of nine kids and the best Poppy 19 grandbabies and two great-grandbabies could ever ask for.

Church missions and helping people held great importance to him. He was the defensive coach for a semi-pro football team and was actively involved and supportive of his children’s passions.

With a MacGyver spirit and an intense love of duct tape, Derek could fix absolutely anything.

Derek is survived by his mother Diane Chisholm, brother Devin Chisholm and family, sister Darci Hillert and family, his wife Bobbi, and his children: Staci Ivey (husband Donnie), Traci Spencer (husband Earle III), Madison Goodrich (husband Drew), Christine Woolridge, Chloë Golmon (husband Jake), Brooke Weeks (husband Hunter), Max Chisholm, Alex Chisholm and Gannon Chisholm, his 19 beautiful grandbabies: Jessica Taylor, Chelsea Pfeiffer, Brittney Sheldon, Celestine Pfeiffer, Earle Spencer IV, Gracie Bee Spencer, Hugh Spencer, Anelise Ivey, Rylee Weeks, Willow Goodrich, Gabi Woolridge, Triston Woolridge, Cash Golmon, Ellie Goodrich, Karlyn Woolridge, Gunnar Golmon, Ryder Weeks, Buzzy Golmon, Selah Golmon… and 2 great-grandbabies: AJ Plotzyk and Culpepper Taylor.
