New restaurant, still unidentified, earns go-ahead in KDH

Kill Devil Hills commissioners have given final approval to a new restaurant on U.S. 158, but what kind of eatery it will be remains a secret.

Plans for the restaurant were initially rejected because they included an old driveway that runs off of the busy bypass.

This time, the driveway was eliminated, and the Board of Commissioners unanimously endorsed the concept on Monday night with no discussion.

Submitted by I.G. Holdings, the site plan calls for two lots to be combined for a 3,000-square-foot building on 27,750 square feet of land.

The lot at the corner of Atlantic Street used to be Advanced Tree service. The one next to it has been various businesses, most recently Bizport. Both buildings have been torn down.

For safety reasons, a town ordinance prohibits access from U.S. 158 or the west side of N.C. 12 on corner lots that can be reached from a side street.

John DeLucia of Albemarle & Associates would not reveal the name or kind of restaurant planned but said it would not be a chain. On Monday, he said it would be identified in the fall.

How do you propose building a restaurant without telling anyone what restaurant it will be? I hope it’s a Snakepit Alehouse. That’d polish up the ole “family friendly” atmosphere we try so hard to maintain. Serve ’em right for buying a pig in a poke.

How is this even news ? If it’s not Chick-fil-A, don’t bother writing about it
