Commissioner Jack Shea named Dare Citizen of the Year

Dare County Commissioner Jack Shea was named Dare County Citizen of the Year during the recent Dare Day activities.

Bob Woodard, chairman of the Dare County Board of Commissioners, presented the award to Shea at the June 4 commissioners meeting, thanking Shea for his dedication and efforts on behalf of the people of Dare County.

Shea has served on the Dare County Board of Commissioners since 2006 and has spearheaded economic development, chaired the Dare County Audit Committee and worked closely with the Board of Education while serving on the 5 on 5 Committee.

He has served on numerous other boards and committees including the Airport Authority, Veterans Advisory Council, Albemarle Regional Planning RPO, Regional Solid Waste Authority, and the Committee to Preserve Beach Access.

“Although Commissioner Shea is retiring this year, his legacy of service will endure forever,” Woodard said during the presentation.
