A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday to celebrate completion of the new Bonnet Street bath house and renovations to amenities at the beach access in Nags Head.

Godfrey Construction Co. bid $429,000 to build the 1,554-square-foot wood-frame bathhouse on pilings with a shower station and walkway to the beach.

The access was closed in late September for the project, and the access reopened last week.

Along with a new building closer to the sand volleyball court, a single walkover to the beach was constructed to replace the previous pair of ramps.

Along with bathrooms on the first floor, the building has a roughed-in second floor that will be used for storage, and can be finished out for other use in the future.
