“Dare County Arts Council does an amazing job organizing and creating the energy for the show — their love and support for the arts is reflected in the artists and patrons they bring together. For me, it was a delight to exhibit in the New World Festival of the Arts last year. I connected with amazing folks while enjoying the beautiful setting of the show in the heart of Manteo.”

Artists wishing to participate in the New World Festival of the Arts can find an application online at Dare Arts. The application deadline is Monday, April 30. Notifications will be made by Tuesday, May 15, and a full schedule of participating artist will be available after Friday, June 1.

The arts council will host an artists’ reception with live music for New World Festival of the Arts at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. The reception is free and open to the public, and a great time to mingle with the artists participating in the festival. Midway through the reception, the judge will announce the award winners and distribute prizes.

New World Festival of the Arts has been a Manteo tradition for decades, bringing an average of 5,000 to 6,000 attendees to the historic town each year, while providing awareness of current trends in the visual arts.

The festival was started by Manteo business owner Edward Greene, and is sponsored by the Town of Manteo and funded by a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council.
