Paul Edwin Conning of Nags Head, Feb. 21

Paul Edwin Conning, 69, of Nags Head, NC died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Peak Resources – Outer Banks. Born in Freeport, NY on February 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Edna Filbig Conning and Harold Conning.

A Vietnam War veteran, Paul served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He received his master’s degree from Long Island University and served his community as a special education and music teacher retiring from the Hampton School System.

Paul was an accomplished musician and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul will always be remembered for filling a room full of music, joy, laughter, and such key phrases as “cooking with gas” and “see you later, alligator.”

Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Conning; a daughter, Kerri Conning; two brothers, Bruce Conning and his wife, Geri, and Michael Conning and his wife, Brenda; many nieces and nephews; and the extended family he gained at Peak Resources.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church by the Rev. John A. Hanley, osfs. Following the Mass, the family will receive friends and relatives for a Celebration of Life reception in the parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activity Department at Peak Resources Outer Banks on behalf of Paul Conning at 430 Health Center Drive, Nags Head NC, 27959 (252-441-3116).
