Shirley Venente of Southern Shores, Feb. 19

By on February 22, 2018

On February 19, 2018 the world lost a lovely lady, as Shirley Venente of Southern Shores went to be with the Lord. Shirley was born and raised in the Washington D.C. metro area. She worked as a Legal Aide in patents and trademarks.

When she retired she moved to the Outer Banks and has loved her life here. Shirley loved volunteering her time to the island. She helped many people navigate the complexities of Medicare. She assisted at Hotline helping their shops to raise money for their shelters.

One of her great prides was being Queen of her Red Hatters ladies club. She loved her community garden and everyone that participated there.

For over 20 years she has served the Outer Banks and will be sorely missed.

She leaves behind two daughters, two grandsons, a great grandson, a sister, and two brothers. We will all miss this lady with a beautiful heart and soul.

A memorial gathering will be held 2-4pm, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Gallop Funeral Chapel in Nags Head.
Condolences to the family may be expressed via the on-line register at

Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. Nags Head was entrusted with arrangements.
