Patient access representative Kristen Richardson has been named The Outer Banks Hospital’s 2017 Employee of the Year.

Richardson joined the hospital in the summer of 2014 as a seasonal patient access representative, then set off to gain additional experience. In January of 2016, she brought those new skills back to OBH.

The Employee of the Year is selected from the year’s 12 Employees of the Month and exemplifies five values: compassion, excellence, integrity, innovation and teamwork.

“Kristen demonstrates exceptional initiative, self-motivation and willingness to always perform at the highest levels of excellence,” said Patricia Minnefield, director of Patient Business Services.

“She displays empathy, respect, integrity, patience and understanding when communicating with patients, families and co-workers,” Minnefield said.

According to her co-workers, Richardson is a team player, considerate of others and committed to providing excellent service. She is positive and upbeat, and always ready to take on any task. She works seamlessly with all departments in the hospital, and demonstrates exceptional initiative.

“I’m fortunate I found my way back to the Outer Banks Hospital to work with such a supportive and wonderful team,” Richardson said. “I love working here and am thankful to have such wonderful co-workers.”
