Ray M. Midgett of Southern Shores, Jan. 17

Ray McDonald Midgett, 75, of Southern Shores, NC passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at his home. Born in Brunswick, GA on August 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Annabelle McDonald Midgett and Seldon Ray Midgett.

Ray retired as an auditor with the North Carolina Department of Revenue. He was a member of City Road United Methodist Church and spent countless hours at the beach doing what he loved best, metal detecting.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Ray Midgett; and a brother-in-law, Edward Etheridge.

Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Toler Midgett; a son, Randy Midgett and wife, Ginger; two grandchildren, Katie and Evan; and a sister, Joyce Etheridge.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo with the Rev. Kenny Midgett officiating. Burial will take place in Austin Cemetery, Kitty Hawk. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
