Ed Danko of Avon plans run for Dare commissioner

By on January 12, 2018

Republican Ed Danko has announced his candidacy for the November 2018 election for the At-large seat of Dare County Commissioner.

Here’s the rest of the announcement:

Danko, a fiscally conservative Republican, has pledged never to vote to raise taxes in Dare County. Instead, he supports a pro-business friendly environment that creates growth and produces jobs.

“I would rather drink weed killer than raise taxes,” Danko stated. “I will work
to repeal our recent 9.3% property tax increase.”

Danko is also a strong supporter of our fishing industry and an advocate for
year-round dredging of our inlets.

“The economic benefit for Dare County far outweighs the cost of dredging.”

Danko is the Avon GOP Precinct Chairman and a member of the Dare County GOP Executive Board. He also serves as the Public Relations Director for the GOP 3rd Congressional District. He is on the Board of Directors of the Roanoke Island Historical Association (The Lost Colony) and the Board of Directors for both the Avon Property Owners’ Association and Kinnakeet Shores Property Owners’ Association. Danko is a firefighter with the Avon Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He lives with his wife, Beverly in Avon and worships at Our Lady of the Seas Catholic Church in Buxton. They have four rescue dogs – Sebastian, Tilly, Izzy and Albert and a recently adopted stray cat named Dallas. Ed and Bev will tell you they did not rescue their pets, instead, their pets rescued them!
