Marjorie Rae “Margie” Midgett of Stumpy Point, Dec. 5

Marjorie Rae “Margie” Midgett, 82, of Stumpy Point, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Vidant Chowan Hospital. A native of Hyde County, she was born December 24, 1934, to the late Annie Spencer Armstrong and Edward Dewey Armstrong.

Margie worked as a Dare County Public School System’s cafeteria manager, as well as a bus driver. She was a member of the OBX Shag Club, Baum Center Line Dancers, and Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Along with her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Ray Midgett; her second husband, William “Bill” Rose; a son-in-law, David Knighten; a brother, Henry Armstrong; and four sisters, Milford Armstrong Dunbar, Georgie Armstrong Mason, Mirt Armstrong Williams, and Thelma Armstrong Mooney.


Margie is survived by a daughter, Alicia Knighten of Pilot Mountain, NC; and three sons, Ray Midgett, Jr. (Ginger) of Manteo, NC, Johnny Midgett (Toni) of Stumpy Point, NC, and Al Craig Midgett (Paula) of Manteo, NC. Also, surviving are eight grandchildren, Kenneth Knighten, Edward Knighten, Fisher Midgett, Kadie Midgett, Adam Midgett, Nathan Midgett, Morgan Midgett, and CJ Midgett; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis Armstrong of Elizabeth City, NC.

A celebration of Margie’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Pastor Pam Stoffel officiating.
