Kelli Miller, leisure activities specialist with the Department of Parks and Recreation Northern Beach Division, is the November Dare County Employee of the Month.

Tim White, the county’s Public Services director, presented Miller with the award at the Nov. 6 Board of Commissioners meeting.

Miller began her career with Dare County in 2013, when she was hired to help coordinate the gymnastics program.

“Kelli has tremendous skills in gymnastics and knowledge of the sport. She has grown the gymnastics program to the maximum number of children we can handle,” White said during the award presentation, according to a press release.

“It is very seldom that you ever go over to Family Recreation Park and don’t see Kelli working diligently to improve her and her staff’s gymnastics skills set,” he added.

“Kelli commits a tremendous amount of time to the gymnastics program,” White said during the meeting. She arrives at work in the early afternoons, five days a week, and frequently works until 8 or 9 p.m.

“It’s hard to find someone who will make that commitment and stick with it,” White said. “Several times during the year she’ll also come into work on Saturday to work with our more skilled gymnasts and help them advance their skills,” he added.

White said Miller continues to come up with ideas to improve both the gymnastics program and the parks and recreation department.

“Any time I ask her to do something, she does it without hesitation. She’s full of energy and she’s a very loyal employee,” White said.
