Virginia Dare Bridge rehab work flipped to westbound side

By on November 14, 2017

NCDOT contractors finished major deck maintenance work on the eastbound side of the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge earlier than originally scheduled, and have already started on the westbound side.

The work to extend the life of the bridge includes concrete deck repairs, crack sealing and new pavement markings.

The closure of the westbound lanes will take place Mondays through Thursdays until Dec 13. West U.S. 64 traffic is being routed along a detour through Manteo, across the William B. Umstead Bridge, to Manns Harbor.

The Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge will be open to all traffic on weekends between Fridays at 6 a.m. and Sundays at 10 p.m., and closures will have no affect on traffic during the extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
