A 17-year-old from Colington Harbour has been charged in connection with a number of vehicle break-ins in Kill Devil Hills that happened Oct. 12.

Skye Bland was arrested Thursday and charged with four counts of larceny of motor vehicle, four counts of misdemeanor larceny and 10 counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, according to a Kill Devil Hills Police news release.

Bland was booked into the Dare County Detention Center. Bond was set at $140,000.

Police said juvenile petitions for similar charges are being submitted against an accomplice, but an identity was withheld.

“Detectives were aided by the timely reporting of motor vehicle break-ins by the victims on this evening,” said KDH Police Chief Gary Britt.

The Dare County Narcotics Task Force assisted with the case. The investigation into the dozens of other break-ins reported since this summer in Dare County remains open, including several in which firearms were stolen.
