Eric Harrison Ambrose, 43, of Manteo, NC died Sunday, October 29, 2017. A native of Dare County, he was the son of Wanda Powell Ambrose and Edward Harrison Ambrose of Manteo.

Along with his parents, Eric is survived by his brother, Stacy Edward Ambrose and wife, Kimberley of Manteo; and niece, Megan Elizabeth Ambrose.

Eric was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. His loving heart and enthusiasm for life ensured that everyone who met him would never forget him. He made each person lucky enough to know him feel special in a way few others can. His magnetic personality was one that few people are blessed with. Eric was definitely the life of every party and will be missed beyond measure.

At the age of 15, Eric started charter fishing with Vernon Barrington on the Sea Hunter. From there his passion for fishing took him from Costa Rica to the Canadian Border, which led to his career on the water.

Later he began commercial fishing, which included longlining, drop netting, and scalloping. He spent years as captain of The Golden Nugget out of Cape May, NJ. After a long stint in the North Atlantic, he had returned home to the Outer Banks to resume a career in charter fishing.

Eric was a member of a Manteo Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Manteo Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory L. Clark officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
