Roanoke Rod Slingers win 66th NH Surf Fishing Tourney

The Roanoke Rod Slingers caught just four scoring fish during the 66th annual Nags Head Surf Fishing Club Invitational Tournament, but collected 59 points to win the overall title.

The Ridge Anglers collected six fish and 45 points to come in second, and Game of Cage was third with 43 points.

The Sandbar Anglers captured the Mixed Team award with 28 points, coming in tenth overall.


The Frail Quails won the women’s title, and finished fourth overall, with two fish worth 41 points.

A total of 80 teams competed in the tournament that runs the first Thursday and Friday of October each year, and caught a total of 222 fish that scored points.
