Fire officials are still working to determine the cause of a four-alarm blaze Friday afternoon that damaged the Fuji Steakhouse and Sushi Bar in Kill Devil Hills.

The fire was reported at 3:52 p.m. at the restaurant in the 1200 block of South Croatan Highway. Flames and dark smoke shot from the rear of the building on U.S. 158.

Crews from the Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head and Colington fire departments were able to bring the fire under control quickly. Heat, smoke and water damage was reported throughout the building, according to KDH Fire Marshal John Risoldi.

“Investigators from Kill Devil Hills and Dare County are still investigating the cause of fire,” Kill Devil Hills Fire Chief Troy Tilley said Monday evening.
