By on September 14, 2017

The town recently replaced a $4 per month fee on water bills with 1 cent on the property tax, totaling around $230,000 a year, to fund stormwater management projects, including several planned in the next year. (Town of Nags Head/Dare County CURRENTtv video)

South Nags Head

This is a great video and I’m glad that Nags Head is finally waking up. However, I can tell you right now that you can not depend on neighbors to do the right thing. People these days only care about themselves and making money. As long as their property doesn’t hold the water, they are perfectly content with flooding existing residences. On- site stormwater controls for ALL improvements should be in the building codes, not just a suggestion or idea. The elevated property owner causing the problem should be the one having to pay for the water removal, not the flooded neighbor!
