Arrest made over the weekend in Nags Head burglaries

By on February 7, 2017

Nags Head Police arrested a Roanoke Island man over the weekend suspected of burglarizing at least two homes.

Marquis Wade Charity, 37, of Manteo, was taken into custody Saturday around 10 p.m. after he was seen leaving a vacant home in the 3900 block of South Virginia Dare Trail.

When police officers stopped the vehicle Charity was driving, they found two televisions in the back seat. Officers then checked the home Charity had just left and found that it had been burglarized and that two televisions had been stolen.

While searching Charity’s residence on George Daniels Road, investigators from the police department and Dare County Sheriff’s Office found additional electronic items that link him to at least one other Nags Head burglary.

Charity was charged with second degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, larceny, and possession of stolen goods. Additional charges are pending.

He was booked into the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of $13,000 bond.
