A vehicle fire Saturday afternoon in Corolla is likely what led to a rental house burning down in the Ocean Sands neighborhood.

Fire officials say the blaze appeared to start in a vehicle parked under a three-story vacation rental on Oleander Court and was reported around 4:30 p.m.

Winds of 20 to 25 mph helped fan the flames, and it took fire fighters from Corolla, Carova Beach, Duck and Southern Shores around 90 minutes to bring it under control.

No injuries were reported, and the exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
