Hatteras Lighthouse reopens for climbing
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse reopened Friday for the 2012 season Climbing hours will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily in the spring and fall; and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 25 through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3. Area’s first charter school to open enrollment
Water’s Edge Village School in Corolla, the area’s first public charter school and opening in August, will begin accepting enrollment Monday. OBCF announces deadline for grant requests
The Outer Banks Community Foundation reminds area nonprofit organizations that the deadline for applications for second quarter grants is May 10. Applications must be completed and submitted online through the, Foundation’s website www.obcf.org. The paperless online process guides applicants through the required items and enables them to attach additional information and materials.
State aquarium receives national accreditation
The Association of Zoos & Aquariums has announced the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island was granted accreditation by AZA’s independent Accreditation Commission.
