Big gator is a popular sight on U.S 64
An alligator sunning in the canal along U.S. 64 near a couple of miles from the U.S. 264 interchange became a something of a tourist attraction over the weekend. Motorists pulled over to snap photos of gator, which appeared to be 8 to 9 feet long.
Buildings at lighthouse to close for roof repairs
Two buildings at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse site will be closed from March 15 to April 4 for roof replacements. The Principal Keepers Quarters and the Double Keepers Quarters, which houses the Museum of the Sea, will be closed for about two weeks, the National Park Service said.
