Roanoke Island shooting sends one to the hospital

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting on Roanoke Island Thursday night that sent one victim to the hospital.

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired at about 10:05 p.m on Woodley Avenue on Roanoke Island.

Deputies, along with Manteo and Nags Head police officers, found a shooting victim, who was taken to The Outer Banks Hospital by ambulance, according to a Sheriff’s Office statement.

The victim was treated and released.

Investigators have gathered evidence and talked to witnesses. An arrest has not yet been made.
