Ben Gallop shot this photo of the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer, which was launched from NASA’s facility at Wallops Island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

The liftoff late Friday was visible up and down the mid-Atlantic.

Gallop’s picture was taken from Jennette’s Pier. It was a single, 103-second exposure with a 20 millimeter lens using a remote.
