Some minor soundside flooding is possible through early Tuesday, as winds to gale force continue in association with the latest storm system.
A wind advisory and coastal flood advisory for Dare and Hyde counties is in effect until Tuesday at 5 a.m.
West winds of 20 to 30 mph, with some gusts to 45 are possible along the Outer Banks through the overnight hours.
Drivers can also expect to encounter sand on parts of N.C. 12 from south of Oregon Inlet and on U.S. 158 at Jockey’s Ridge.
Water level rises of 2 feet above normal on the eastern shores of the Pamlico and Albemarle sounds is forecast.
