“Womanless Beauty Pageant” returns . . .

By on February 28, 2013

. . . with a twist! (Pun intended)

The wildly successful “Womanless Beauty Pageant” returns for another year with a slightly modified charitable purpose.

The event will be held April 20 “under the tent” at Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head. Brindley Beach Vacations is sponsoring the gala.

Past “competitions” raised money for the Outer Banks Relay for Life, a project of the American Cancer Society.

Can this year's beauties top the $30,000 raised in 2012 by these gorgeous women?

Can this year’s beauties top the $30,000 raised in 2012 by these gorgeous women?

The 2013 version will see the all-male cast of “Charity Queens” raising money for charities of their own choosing.

For the uninitiated, the pageant features local businessmen and community leaders dressed as women and performing skits on stage. The contestants raise money from friends and families before the contest and on the night of the pageant, they work the crowd for additional funds.

The contestant who raises the most funds is crowned the pageant winner.

The men go all out for this event, often sporting shaved legs (and beards), stumbling about in stiletto heels or attempting to lip synch and impersonate female pop stars. Professional hairdressers apply makeup and style wigs just prior to the event.

This year’s all-star cast consists of:

Bob Davis, Beach 104
Philip Foreman, Brew Thru
Adam Swansen, Knuckle Up
Jim Snyder, Outer Banks Sporting Events
Chris Vlahos, Barefoot Bernies
Dr. Jimmy Owens, Carolina Family Practice
James Skinner, Brindley Beach Vacations
B.J. McAvoy, McAvoy & Reed
Alan Swartz, Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church
Doug Meekins, East Coast Communications
Jody Midgette, Midgette Auto
Brant Honeycutt  Cas N Cal Pools

These 11 beauties will be raising money for the following charities:

Relay for Life,  OBX Project Purple, Go Far, Samaritans Purse, Surfing for Autism, Alzheimers Foundation of America, Wounded Warrior, Get Pinked, Community Care Clinic of Dare, The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Clinic-Duke, and the Outer Banks Relief Foundation.

Tickets are $50 and include food, an open bar, and of course, plenty of laughs.

Tickets can be purchased at Brindley Beach Vacations or from any of the contestants.
