A fire Monday night heavily damaged a home in Moyock and sent a resident to a hospital.

Firefighters were dispatched at 6:50 p.m. to the 100 block of Ranchland Drive, according to Currituck County public information officer Randall Edwards.

Crews from Moyock and Crawford volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze, which heavily damaged the house especially the roof, according to Edwards.

The cause of the fire was under investigation by the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office.

One person living at the home was treated for unspecified injuries and was taken to a hospital by Currituck EMS, but further details were not released.

Emergency crews cleared the scene around midnight, but were called back Tuesday morning to extinguish a flare up, Edwards said.
