Winter weather closings and postponements

Snow, sleet and freezing rain are forecast starting Friday afternoon and continuing overnight throughout Northeastern North Carolina.

The weather outlook has prompted some closings and postponements. We will add more information as we receive it.

Schools
SAT that was to be administered First Flight High School Saturday has been postponed to Feb. 16.

Government
Dare Parks and Recreation, northern beach basketball games start at 11 a.m., 9 a.m. games moved to 3 p.m., 10 a.m. games moved to 4 p.m.
Currituck Parks and Recreation, all basketball games postponed to later dates.

    Hyde County Schools Mainland Campus will close at 2:00 pm.

    Did anyone else see Sheriff Doughty directing traffic in front of FFES when school let out today. He easliy could have told/asked one his officers to do it, but took the bull by the horns and did it himself. This is one of the many reasons why he was elected to office; he cares about the community.
