The Outer Banks Wedding Association and Dare County Arts Council invite their collective membership to participate in a photography exhibit to coincide with the 2013 Outer Banks Wedding Weekend.
The exhibit, Stolen Moments: Highlighting and Honoring the Creativity and Artistry of Outer Banks Photographers, will be on display at the Dare County Arts Council Gallery Jan.14 to Jan. 29.
“We hope this is the first of many collaborations between OBWA and DCAC,” said Outer Banks Wedding Association President Kate Pullen.
To kick off the Wedding Weekend, there will be a gallery reception Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.
“Photographers are encouraged to submit images that show their creative side: that unguarded moment; a sunset that didn’t make it into the wedding album, the cutting-edge shot that only emerged while the bride and groom weren’t posing,” said Dare Council Arts Council Gallery Director Fay Davis Edwards.
The exhibit is open to all artists who are members of Dare County Arts Council or the Outer Banks Wedding Association and are 18 years of age or older.
“I cannot fully express my excitement when I envision the possibilities that can be achieved when the Arts Council works on projects with complementary organizations, such as OBWA. I am a member of both groups and am excited to see the progressive movement toward promoting both traditional and nontraditional arts in our community,” said photographer and Arts Council board member Mary Basnight.
Selected photographers will be notified by Friday Jan. 4, 2013.
