Information sought on Burnside break-in

The Dare County Sheriff’s Department is looking for information on a break-in Sunday evening at a home on Roanoke Island.

According to a news release, deputies responded to a burglary in progress around 7:30 p.m. at a residence in the 900 block of Burnside Road.

The investigation revealed the perpetrator made entry into the home through a window by forced entry.

Within seconds of entering the home, the suspect fled the house by forcing their way through a front glass storm door.

No one saw the perpetrator, and no physical description is available.

Important note: The homeowners were inside the house. The crook entered while the residents were in their home.
