Fire Prevention Week open house in Nags Head

By on October 7, 2012

A possible future firefighter checks out what it feels like to be behind the wheel of a fire engine at Nags Head’s Youth Open House last year.

Nags Head Fire and Rescue will be holding its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fire Station 16 at 5314 S. Croatan Highway (Milepost 14.5). This year’s theme is “Have 2 Ways Out!”

The open house is a great opportunity to meet the personnel protecting our community and learn more about protecting yourself and your family from fire.

Child car seat inspections, smoke detector installation training and fire extinguisher demonstrations are just a few of the events scheduled.

In addition, the Dare County Fire Officers Association Fire Safety Trailer will be teaching young and old how to get out of a house in the event of a fire.

Face painting, a climbing wall, Magic Mike and “Pluggy,” the motorized fire hydrant from the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department, will be available for the children.

Pizza and refreshments will be served.
