Grandy man indicted on child sex charges

A Currituck grand jury last week indicted a Grandy 28-year-old on a pair of felony statutory rape charges and two felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Johnathan Ray Weaver turned himself in Monday at the Currituck County Sherrif’s Office and was released on $2,000 bond.

The incidents were alleged to have happened with two teens.

What is with these ridiculously low bonds? He might not be guilty until proven so, but these are very serious charges and a $2000 bond seems awful low.
