Three Dare County men arrested on heroin charges

Two people were arrested last week on heroin charges in Kill Devil Hills and a third suspect was subsequently picked up in Southern Shores.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by the Dare County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit in conjunction with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of investigation.

Arrested Sept. 24 in Kill Devil Hills, the sheriff’s office reported, was Michael Stuart Melchi, 51, of the the 1200 block of Virginia Dare Trail in Kill Devil Hills.

He was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, selling or delivering heroin and two counts of conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin. Melchi was committed to the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of $40,000 bond.

Also arrested was James Willard Melchi, 67, of the same address on a charge of conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin. He was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Claude Renaud

Further investigation led to the arrest of Claude Renaud, 57, of Ginguite Trail in Southern Shores.

He was charged with the sale or delivery of heroin, conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin and possession of heroin and was released on $25,000 bond, according to a sheriff’s office statement.

The baby boomers are the druggies now. Time for everyone to stop being a hippie and get a REAL JOB. I am hoping there will soon be more real jobs for everyone here. Productive, busy people don’t need drugs to pay there bills.

Ok folks–bring on the nasty remarks about how much of low life, scum of the earth junkies these 3 individuals are–I had to sit here and listen to it a few months ago when my friend was charged with possession of heroin! And if we should throw a 22 year old drug addict in prison for the rest of his life, then I guess we should seek the death penalty on these old timers!
