Tornado watch up as storms approach coast

A tornado watch was posted today for most northeastern North Carolina counties as lines of thunderstorms approach the coast.

Keep a radio tuned to Beach 104 (104.1 FM), 94.5 FM WCMS, Classic Hits 104.9 FM & 92.3 FM, 99.1 FM The Sound, ESPN Radio 97.1 FM, News Radio 560 AM, and 99.3 FM Q-Country for any warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

The storms precede a cold front that is over the western mountains. A low-pressure system is also pumping in hot, humid air from the south.

After-school events in Dare and Currituck counties have been cancelled.
