Carolina Cupcakery returns to Food Channel

| September 17, 2012

Carolina Cupcakery, “Hampton Roads’ and OBX’s Original Cupcake Bakery,” will be returning to Food Network’s hit show, Cupcake Wars on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m.

The “bonus episode” was ordered by Food Network to give former competing bakers a second chance to win the $10,000 prize.

With only a few days notice, owner Dawn Eskins accepted the challenge, recruited baking assistant Marsha Insley and hopped on a plane to compete. The show was filmed barely one week later in Los Angeles Center Studios.

“It was a whirlwind trip and there was no time to think about panicking,” says Eskins. “You just say your blessings and go. Fortunately I’ve done this before and knew what to expect so that made it easier for me but it’s still the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I am extremely proud of our performance because we did the absolute best we could, against some of the best bakers in the industry.”

As a big SNL fan, Eskins was ecstatic to discover the show theme was Hotel Transylvania, a 3-D animated comedy starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Andy Samberg, David Spade and Steve Buscemi. Coming up with spooky cupcakes made the trip even more challenging and fun.

Also Sept. 23 Carolina Cupcakery will celebrate its Cupcake Wars return by hosting a Grand Opening/Frosting Fight in the rear parking lot of its recently relocated Chesapeake storefront at 1200 N. Battlefield Blvd. in West Greenbrier.

Tune in at 8 p.m, on to support your local cupcake bakery (again).
